This little home dehumidifier (which is about the size of a shoe box) performs amazingly well! Mind you, though, the Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini Dehumidifier is essentially all plastic. BUT don't let that deceive you. This all plastic dehumidifier is very durable and sturdy.
With the size and weight of the Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini Dehumidifier, it is ideal for those tight and small places. You see, I have a 6 feet by 40 feet by 8 feet brick structure against a hillside. Considering that it is moisture blocked, a lot of moisture still gets through the wall. This dehumidifier does an excellent job of getting moisture in the air - about half a cup of water a day when the space is closed. The Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini Dehumidifier's performance is just about right - satisfying my needs and preventing the deterioration of wood and peeling of paint in my place.
HOWEVER, I doubt that the Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini Dehumidifier would work and draw enough moisture in larger areas. You would need a bigger and more powerful unit for that.
The Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini Dehumidifier is perfect for walk in closets which is even larger than my space. They would generally have less moisture than my spot. Using this on a living area won't bring sufficient benefit since it would be overwhelmed with ventilation with the little volume capacity that it has.
If you are living in enclosed spaces near coastal areas, the Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini Dehumidifier would serve you well, too!
