Being a new homeowner, I don't have even the slightest idea that a little bathroom sized humidifier cannot handle the basement. HOWEVER, this doesn't take away the fact that the SPT SD-60E 60-Pint Dehumidifier is a winner!
BIG enough, Energy Star compliant (which means it's energy efficient), coupled with a very reasonable price make the SPT SD-60E 60-Pint Dehumidifier one of the best dehumidifiers in the industry at its price range.
I have been using this dehumidifier for home for about more than a month now and I must say that this thing is AMAZING! I plug the thing in by 9 in the morning and switch it on, and by 9:45 PM, just 12 hours after it was turned on, it's filled with 60 pints of water!
Removing the water is also very easy. By the way, you can also go for non stop operation if needed. All I have to do when removing the water is slide it out from the front, bring it up the stairs, dump...VIOLA! All done.
While big, the SPT SD-60E 60-Pint Dehumidifier is NOT heavy at all. Moving it is very easy thanks to the wheels that it came along with. And as for the Energy Star rating, it's RIGHT! My electric bill I am paying for is less compared to my friends' bills who are using non Energy Star compliant dehumidifiers for home.
As for the noise level: I can never hear the SPT SD-60E 60-Pint Dehumidifier operating until I go down stairs. And even if I do, the noise level is very low...way lower than that of a fan or an air conditioning unit set on low mode.
Thanks to the SPT SD-60E 60-Pint Dehumidifier I no longer have to worry about mold growth and excess moist. It's all dry, clean, and comfortable downstairs.
